Underworld: Rise of the Lycans movie trailer released!

Despite the loss of Kate Beckinsale, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans promises big things. This time focusing on the period when Lucien and the Lycans rise up against Viktor and the vamps. With dark-haired beauty Rhona Mitra (also in DOOMSDAY) cast as Viktor’s vamp daughter, things promise to be hot.

The Story

For those unaware of the history surrounding Viktor and Lucien…Lucien falls in love with Viktor’s daughter Sonja, Viktor then kills his daughter for betraying the vampires and being with a Lycan. So, Lucien leads a revolt in which the Lycans win their freedom from the vampires.

Box Office Top 10: Week of July 25th

The Dark Knight breaks records, Step Brothers band together to find their Momma Mia!, and aliens, chimps, the center of a planet, and a drunken super-hero make up the rest of the week.

With Batman breaking records left and right, Hellboy II still in the mix, and new comers X-Files and Step Brothers, one could be hard pressed to break into the top ten next week.

The Dark Knight Shatters Records

“Batman buried his rivals at the North American box office for a second weekend on Sunday, racing past $300 million in a record 10 days.

The Caped Crusader’s blockbuster outing, “The Dark Knight,” sold an estimated $75.6 million worth of tickets during the three days beginning Friday, taking its total to $314.2 million, distributor Warner Bros. Pictures said.

A week after it scored a record-breaking $158 million opening, “The Dark Knight” added a new title to its impressive list of superlatives: the best second weekend, surpassing the holiday-boosted $72 million haul of 2004’s “Shrek 2.”

The $180 million movie, which stars Christian Bale as Batman and late actor Heath Ledger as the anarchic Joker, has reportedly been drawing strong repeat business, and also has piqued the interest of people who avoid superhero flicks or rarely go to the movies at all.

“The Dark Knight” now ranks as the second-biggest movie of the year, just behind the $315 million haul of “Iron Man,” and the 23rd-biggest of all time.” [...]

So Jigsaw is dead, as well as nearly everyone else from the first 4 movies. The 4th one ended with a time sequence that made no sense to the first three movies and most of the timeline set up in the beginning of the 4th. And now Det. Hoffman just continue Jigsaw’s plans…but he must rely on his skills as a detective to keep from getting exposed.

The Pineapple Express

Though Judd Apatow and SUPERBAD scribes Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg seem like natural talent to be attached to this stoner film, indie drama director David Gordon Green (ALL THE REAL GIRLS) is a pleasant surprise. Rogen stars with fellow Apatow favorite James Franco as pot smokers who get in over their heads in this action comedy.

Whether you’re a pot head or not this is a must see comedy of the summer:

The name HP Lovecraft strikes a chord with almost any and all who love the horror genre. Whether it be his books or adaptations there of on the silver screen, Lovecraft’s work has been plaguing our dreams for years.

And this time is no different…Cthulu is a remake of a timeless story of horror, betrayal, lies, deceit, and death. Much in the way that the story of Cthulu invaded death metal and heavy metal alike, this movie is sure to invade your mind.
